My dear, if you have a Degree in Nursing here are some of the options that can help in your career pathway. Again, this is based on my short experience and it cannot be generalized to all health care institutions. Insya-Allah I will update the information from time to time.

Private Nurse

Designation: Staff Nurse

Salary: Starting RM1200 and above

Process: Send your resume (by post or email) to the Human Resource. Wait for their reply

Interview: Hospital Director/Dr/Head Nurse/Clinician will be there to interview you. While waiting for your turn, you will sit for a simple exam just to know your current level of knowledge. Immediate result can be obtain depends on how urgent they want to fill up the vacancy

Uniform: Ready made

Accommodation: Limited

Shift: AM (7 hours), PM (7 hours), ND (10 hours)

Job scope: Nursing and extended roles

Nursing practice: Based on your nursing school. No standardized policy and procedure. Hospital orientation can finished in 1 day. Documentation in paper.

Government Nurse

Designation: Jururawat Terlatih U41

Salary: Starting RM2500 and above

Process: Fill up online in SPA website

Interview: Wait for a letter or email from SPA. Follow the instruction in the letter and arrange properly the documents needed. 1 representative from SPA and 1 from Nursing will be there to interview you. No exam.

Uniform: Linen provided

Accommodation: Limited

Shift: AM (7 hours), PM (7 hours), ND (10 hours)

Annual leave: 30 days

Job scope: Nursing and extended roles

Nursing practice: Based on your nursing school. No standardized policy and procedure except Blood Transfusion, Medication Administration, Dressing, IV Fluid Administration. 3 days of hospital orientation. Documentation in paper.

International Nurse

Designation: Staff Nurse 1

Salary: Starting RM10,000 and above

Process: Contact trusted working agency

Interview: International phone interview based on the hospital and your date availability

Uniform: Ready made

Accommodation: Unlimited and fully furnished

Shift: AM (12 hours), ND (12 hours)

Annual leave: 54 days

Job scope: Nursing only

Nursing practice: Standardized internal policy and procedure. 2 days of hospital orientation. 5 days of nursing orientation. 5 days of privileges classes for critical area and followed by examination. Computerized documentation.
